In the Land of the Deaf

This documentary takes an in-depth look into the world of the deaf, which on the contrary to what we may believe, does not mean these individuals are missing some vital part of the human experience. Rather, through the use of sign language and other methods of communication, the deaf are revealed to have their own rich culture -- one that emphasizes aspects other than sound. The interview subjects vary, and some reveal surprising attitudes, both about themselves and hearing culture.
